The Hazleton Area Public Library is currently seeking a full-time Cataloger/Head of Technical Services. This position is responsible for supervising technical services staff members, overseeing the creation and maintenance of record and item level information in the Koha ILS. Overseeing material deletions. Creating original MARC cataloging records when needed. Selecting cataloging records from OCLC and Koha’s Z39.50 results. Assessing departmental procedures and recommending changes when needed. Attending system-wide and library staff meetings to discuss cataloging issues. Maintaining department statistics.   Covering Reference and Circulation Desks as needed.

The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and excellent communication and supervisory skills.

Position is 37.5 hours per week and includes shifts Monday through Thursday and alternating Fridays and Saturdays. The position includes paid holidays, vacation days, sick days, personal time, health insurance (with optional vision plan) or a health insurance waiver, and a 401K retirement plan.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited institution.
• Experience working in various public library departments (such as circulation desk, clerical, audiovisual, technical services).
• Familiarity with online library catalogs and integrated library systems, including Koha and OCLC.

A current driver’s license and the ability to obtain the Child Abuse Clearance, Criminal Record Check, and FBI Fingerprint Clearance is mandatory.

Salary starting at $44,950.
