PaLA - South Central Chapter Social Event

Description

The South-Central Chapter will be meeting at the Farnsworth House Inn to enjoy a guided house tour between 2pm and 3:30pm on Saturday, November 1, 2025. This is a public tour, so please book early to save your spot. Please arrive around 1:40 to meet up and check in. After the tour, we will share a late lunch/early dinner at Sweney's Tavern. You can see the menu ahead of time.

Historic Farmhouse Tour Description:

Take a guided tour of the Historic Farnsworth House, listed on the National Register of Historic Places by the US Department of Interior. Visit the Garret (attic) and see where the Sharpshooter was stationed who is thought to have fired the fatal shot that took the life of Jennie Wade, the only civilian to have been killed during the Battle of Gettysburg. You will also see lite cases of Civil War relics on display. Descend to the cellar which is set up like a Victorian Viewing Parlor with an antique coffin, period photos, church pews and more.

Enjoy the chance to learn about the house's fascinating history, from its original builder to its current owners and everything in between!

Unfortunately, due to the age and structure of the house, this tour is not accessible for individuals with disabilities. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.

PURCHASE TICKETS: $10+tax for adults and can be individually purchased.
